Mallakhamb Camp by Chinmaya Mission

A two day Mallakhamb Camp was organised by Chinmaya Mission on 22 and 23 of July 2025. Mallakhamb is a traditional Indian sport that blends gymnastics, yoga, and strength training on a wooden pole or rope. It enhances physical fitness, mental focus, and flexibility. Rooted in ancient martial arts, it reflects India’s rich cultural heritage.

Shri. Uday Vishwanath Deshpande, Deputy Commissioner of Customs and Central Excise was the mentor for this two-day Camp. Initially, he  instructed the students to perform some warm up exercises to prepare the body for physical activity, then they were taught various poses, postures and technique on a vertical wooden pole or hanging rope, emphasizing strength and flexibility. Some games were also conducted to promote overall physical fitness. Altogether 10 students of classes VI to VIII participated actively from our vidyalaya. They were escorted by PET.

This Mallakhamb camp was a success, providing participants with a unique opportunity to learn a traditional Indian sport.
