On 2nd October, 2026 Vivekananda Kendra Zilla Parishad Vidyalaya, Port Mout, celebrated Gandhi Jayanti  with great enthusiasm and solemnity. The occasion was also observed to commemorate the birth anniversary of Lal Bahadur Shastri.

The programme began with a Prabhat Pheri, after which the main programme was conducted in the school premises in which the Principal of the Vidyalaya, Smt. B. Latha, lighted  the ceremonial lamp and paid floral tribute.

A student of Class XII, Anisha Mondal, delivered a speech highlighting the significance of Gandhi Jayanti and the ideals of Mahatma Gandhi. This was followed by an inspiring speech by Smti. Bulti Chakraborthy, a teacher of the Vidyalaya.

The atmosphere became solemn and devotional as the students and teachers sang the Ram Dhun. This was followed by the National Song and the National Anthem.

As part of the celebration and to promote the values of cleanliness and civic responsibility, a cleanliness drive was organised, in which students of each class actively participated. Refreshments were also provided to the students at the end of the programme.

The programme was conducted successfully and served as a meaningful reminder of the ideals of truth, non-violence, cleanliness and service to the nation.

A total of  212 students, 34 teachers and 06 non-teaching staff members were present during the programme.

Overall, the celebration was meaningful, well-organised and successful.
