 80th Independence Day Celebration


                                         


          Vivekananda Kendra Zilla Parishad Vidyalaya, Port Mout, celebrated the 80th Independence Day of India on 15th August 2026 with great enthusiasm, patriotic fervour and a deep sense of pride in the nation. The celebration was organised on the school premises and witnessed the active participation of students, teaching staff and non-teaching staff.


The programme commenced early in the morning with the arrival of students at 6:10 a.m. The students enthusiastically participated in a Prabhat Pheri, walking around the locality while raising patriotic slogans. The lively procession created an atmosphere of national pride and reminded everyone of the spirit of freedom, unity and patriotism that defines the country.



The main programme began with the soulful rendition of the National Song, “Vande Mataram.” The Chief Guest, Shri Prakash Adhikari, Chairman Education & Social Justice Committee, Zilla Parishad, South Andaman, and Chairman, Guptara Constituency, was warmly welcomed on the occasion. The National Flag was then hoisted by the Chief Guest along with the Principal, Smt. B. Latha, followed by the singing of the National Anthem by the entire gathering. The flag-hoisting ceremony evoked a strong sense of patriotism and respect for the nation.


The welcome address was delivered by the Principal, Smt. B. Latha. In her address, she highlighted the historical significance of Independence Day and reminded the students that freedom comes with responsibility. She encouraged them to become disciplined, responsible and compassionate citizens who would contribute positively to the progress and development of the nation.



Continuing the school's cherished tradition, students and staff members whose birthdays fell around the occasion were invited to the stage and blessed with tikka. This warm gesture added a personal and joyful touch to the celebration and strengthened the sense of togetherness within the school community.



The celebration was further enriched by a colourful cultural programme presented by the students of the Vidyalaya. The students showcased their talents through various performances reflecting patriotism, Indian culture, unity and national pride. Their enthusiastic participation added vibrancy and excitement to the programme, while also providing them with an opportunity to express their love and respect for the motherland through music, dance and other cultural presentations.

A noteworthy part of the programme was the speech delivered by Sneha Joydhar, a student of Class XII. Through her speech, she highlighted the significance of Independence Day and paid tribute to the immense sacrifices made by the freedom fighters who dedicated their lives to securing India's independence. Her words served as an inspiration to the students and encouraged them to value the freedom they enjoy today.



The Chief Guest, Shri Prakash Adhikari, then addressed the gathering. In his speech, he emphasised the importance of patriotism, national unity, social responsibility and responsible citizenship. He encouraged the students to uphold the values of discipline, integrity and service and to play an active role in building a stronger, progressive and harmonious nation. His inspiring words motivated the students and added greater significance to the occasion.





As a token of appreciation and gratitude, the Principal presented a memento to the Chief Guest. The gesture acknowledged his valuable presence and inspiring contribution to the Independence Day celebration.


The programme concluded with the vote of thanks delivered by Menoka Paik Ma’am. She expressed sincere gratitude to the Chief Guest, the Principal, teachers, students, non-teaching staff and everyone who contributed to the successful conduct of the programme. She also acknowledged the collective efforts of the school community in making the celebration memorable and meaningful.



The gathering then dispersed after refreshments were served. The celebration witnessed the participation of 536 students, 35 teaching staff members and 8 non-teaching staff members, making it a significant and memorable occasion for the entire school community.



Overall, the 80th Independence Day celebration at Vivekananda Kendra Zilla Parishad Vidyalaya, Port Mout, was a meaningful, joyful and inspiring occasion. Thef programme successfully brought together the entire school community in a spirit of patriotism, unity and national pride. The celebration not only commemorated India's journey as a free nation but also reminded the students of the sacrifices of the freedom fighters and the responsibilities that come with being responsible citizens of the country.

  Bhajan Sandhya

Venue: Shiv Temple, Near Vivekananda Kendra Zilla Parishad Vidyalaya, Port Mout


Vivekananda Kendra Zilla Parishad Vidyalaya, Port Mout, organised a Bhajan Sandhya on 7th August 2026 at the nearby Shiv Temple. The programme was organised with the aim of bringing together the teachers, non-teaching staff, parents and students in an atmosphere of devotion, peace andg spiritual harmony.




The programme began with the Sandhya Aarti, creating a serene and devotional atmosphere in the temple. This was followed by the singing of devotional bhajan geet, in which the participants joined together with devotion and enthusiasm. 




The melodious bhajans created a sense of spiritual togetherness and made the evening meaningful and peaceful for everyone present.


The teachers of the Vidyalaya, along with the non-teaching staff, participated in the programme. Parents and children of the Vidyalaya also joined the gathering and took part in the devotional activities.


The participation of the school community made the occasion more warm, inclusive and memorable.

A total of 23 participants took part in the Bhajan Sandhya.

The programme concluded with the distribution of Prashad among all. 



The Bhajan Sandhya was a spiritually enriching experience and provided an opportunity for the members of the school community to come together, pray and strengthen their bond through devotion and collective participation.

 Guru Purnima Celebration


Vivekananda Kendra Zilla Parishad Vidyalaya, Port Mout



On 29th July 2026, Vivekananda Kendra Zilla Parishad Vidyalaya, Port Mout, celebrated the auspicious occasion of Guru Purnima with great devotion and enthusiasm.









The programme was gracefully anchored by one of the teachers of the Vidyalaya, Miss. Bhumika Tripathi. Shri. Ashamanjo Halder Up- Adhyaksh,ZPM S/Andaman, Smti. Chaitali Roy, Panchayat Samiti Member, Smti. Tapasi Saha, Pradhan and Shri. Narashimma Rao, Assistant Commandant IRBn were warmly welcomed by the students with tilak and by offering flowers to Swamiji. A bouquet was then presented to the Chief Guest as a mark of respect.

                                              






The ceremonial lighting of the lamp was performed amidst the chanting of the Ekya Mantra. The gathering was formally welcomed by the Principal of the Vidyalaya, Smti. B. Latha.





The students presented a melodious Guru Song, followed by an inspiring speech by Smt. Deviya Shoshan Dhanwar, one of the teachers of the Vidyalaya, highlighting the significance of Guru Purnima. 



The students also presented the Mansa Satatam song. A student of the Vidyalaya delivered a speech expressing gratitude towards teachers and emphasizing the importance of the guru in shaping one's life.







As a part of the annual tradition, the toppers of Classes X and XII were felicitated for their outstanding academic achievements. 





The Chief Guest then addressed the gathering with an inspiring and motivational speech, encouraging the students to strive for excellence in both academics and character.



A memento was presented to the Chief Guest and all other dignitaries by the HOI as a token of appreciation.



The Vote of Thanks was delivered by Smt. Menoka Paik, one of the teachers of the Vidyalaya. The programme concluded with the chanting of the Shanti Mantra, followed by refreshments.




The celebration witnessed the participation of 90 students along with 30 parents, making the event a memorable and meaningful occasion for all.

  Investiture Ceremony - 2026



Vivekananda Kendra Zilla Parishad Vidyalaya, Port Mout


The Investiture Ceremony was held on 28th July 2026 at Vivekananda Kendra Zilla Parishad Vidyalaya, Port Mout, in the school premises. The ceremony marked the official appointment of the student leaders for the academic session and was conducted with great enthusiasm and pride.




The programme commenced with the morning assembly. During the ceremony, the division of the school houses was announced to the teachers, and the House Captains and Vice-Captains were presented with their badges and entrusted with their responsibilities for the entire session.




The atmosphere became even more vibrant when the school's band troop performed, adding a sense of pride and celebration to the occasion.

The responsibility of Head Boy was entrusted to Akhil Ram of Class XII, while Sneha Joydhar was appointed as the Head Girl. Student leaders were also appointed for various other categories, including Sports, Discipline, and other committees.















The Principal of the school, Smti. B. Latha, congratulated all the newly appointed student leaders and House Masters. She conveyed her best wishes and encouraged them to carry out their duties with sincerity, dedication, and a strong sense of responsibility.


            

  
               



The ceremony concluded on a positive note, inspiring the students to uphold the values of leadership, discipline, teamwork, and service throughout the academic year.


 Mock Drill  – July 2026


Vivekananda Kendra Zilla Parishad Vidyalaya, Port Mout


An earthquake mock drill was conducted on 21st July 2026 at Vivekananda Kendra Zilla Parishad Vidyalaya, Port Mout, to enhance earthquake preparedness and safety awareness among students and staff.




The programme began at 2:00 p.m. with an awareness session on earthquake safety measures, highlighting the importance of the "Drop, Cover, and Hold" technique. 





Students were informed about the correct response during an earthquake and the need to remain calm during emergencies.


Following the awareness session, the mock drill was carried out in a systematic manner.


 On hearing the emergency signal, students practiced the "Drop, Cover, and Hold" technique inside their classrooms and then evacuated the building through the designated routes under the guidance of their teachers. 



They assembled safely at the designated assembly point, where attendance was verified.







The drill was conducted under the supervision of the Teacher-in-Charge with the active support of all teachers and staff. 





A total of 748 students, along with 34 teachers, participated in the exercise. The drill successfully reinforced emergency preparedness and emphasized the importance of regular mock drills in ensuring a safe and secure school environment.
