Report on 14th Annual Athletic Meet
The 14th Annual Athletic Meet of Vivekananda Kendra Zilla Parishad Vidyalaya, Port Mout was organised with great enthusiasm on 29th November 2025 in the school premises.
The programme was anchored by Miss. Ankita Biswas and Miss. Manabi Roy, began at 8:30am. With the arrival of the Chief Guest, Shri S. Bhoominathan, Up-Adhyaksh, Zilla Parishad, South Andaman, and the Guest of Honour, Shri K.P. Mammu, International Athlete and Asian Games Gold Medalist. Members of the Zilla Parishad and delegates from various organisations also graced the occasion. The dignitaries offered flowers at the statue of Swamiji, after which they were welcomed with bouquets.
The ceremony began with a prayer, followed by the welcome address of the Principal, Smti. Sabita Devi, who highlighted the significance of sports in shaping discipline and character. The Chief Guest then hoisted the flag, after which the students of all houses, led by their Captains, presented a smart and well-coordinated March Past. The Meet was officially declared open by the Chief Guest, and the torch, symbolising the spirit of sportsmanship, was lit and passed from Captain to Captain. The Oath Taking ceremony was led by the School Captain, Ishaan Singh of Class XII, who pledged fair play and dedication on behalf of all participants.
The young students of Class I and II performed the Nanhe Anthem. The programme continued with various impressive displays including Mass PT by Classes III to V, Pyramid formation, Umbrella Drill, Clap Drill, Hand Movement Display, Yoga Demonstration and Self-Defence techniques. These performances were vibrant, lively and greatly appreciated by the audience. Alongside these displays, athletic events for students of Classes VI to VIII were conducted with great excitement and sportsman spirit. The Relay Races for both boys and girls stood out for their energy and competitive spirit.
Adding fun and thrill to the occasion, a Tug of War was conducted between the current students and the ex-students, which created a cheerful and nostalgic atmosphere. A special event for parents was also organised, which saw enthusiastic participation and enjoyment from all sides.
The prize distribution for selected games and the conducted events on the same day was carried out by the Chief Guest, while prizes for the March Past were awarded by the Guest of Honour. Awards were also given to the winners of the parents’ events, and the Best House trophy was presented, acknowledging the collective effort and teamwork of the students. The Chief Guest then delivered an inspiring speech, encouraging students to take active part in sports and continue striving for excellence in the future. Mementoes were presented to both the Chief Guest and the Guest of Honour by the Head of Institution as a token of appreciation.
The meet was officially declared closed and the flag was brought down and handed over to the PET for safe custody.
The Vote of Thanks was delivered by Smti. Kirti Tiwari, who expressed gratitude to all the dignitaries, guests, teachers, students and supporting staff for their contribution in making the event a grand success. The programme concluded with the National Anthem, leaving everyone with a sense of pride, joy and accomplishment.
A total no. of 769 children, 400 parents, 34 teaching & 07 non- teaching staff were part of this event.
