Matru Puja
On 6th February 2026, Vivekananda Kendra Zilla Parishad Vidyalaya, Port Mout celebrated "Matru Puja" with great devotion and reverence for the students of Classes X and XII. Matru Puja holds immense cultural and spiritual significance as it instills values such as gratitude, respect, humility, and devotion towards parents, especially mothers.
The programme was organized in the school premises
and commenced at 9:30 a.m. It began with a ceremonial welcome, followed by an
address by the Principal, who highlighted the importance of Matru Puja and
emphasized the need to honor and respect parents in one’s life. The occasion
was further graced by the presence of the Smti. Pramila Kumari, Zilla Parishad
Member, Chouldari Constituency, who witnessed and appreciated the significance
of the celebration.
The puja rituals were guided and led by Shri Shiv
Kumar Dwivedi, who chanted sacred mantras and shlokas. Along with the chanting,
he explained the spiritual and cultural importance of each ritual, enabling the
students to understand the deeper meaning of the ceremony.
Under his guidance, the students performed the puja
with deep devotion by offering aarti, tying the sacred thread, touching their
parents’ feet as a mark of respect, and offering sweets. The entire atmosphere
was filled with spirituality and emotional bonding between parents and
children.
Following the puja, the Principal distributed the
hall tickets to the students and addressed them, wishing them success in their
forthcoming board examinations. The students then collected their hall tickets
while seeking the blessings of their teachers and parents, which added special
significance to the occasion.
The programme concluded with a lunch served to the
parents and students, bringing the event to a warm and meaningful close.
A total of 67 students and 72 parents participated
in the Matru Puja.
